Transmission Cooler: Service and Repair

Transmission Fluid Cooler - 4.4L

Service Repair No - 44.24.10

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Drain the cooling system.
4. Remove the cooling fan.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting or removing the components, ensure the area around the joint faces and connections are clean and dry.
Plug open connections to prevent contamination.

CAUTION: Always protect the cooling pack elements to prevent accidental damage.

5. Disconnect the 3 transmission fluid cooler coolant hoses.

Release the 2 clips.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting or removing the components, ensure the area around the joint faces and connections are clean and dry.
Plug open connections to prevent contamination.

6. Disconnect the 2 transmission fluid cooler pipes.

Depress the 2 quick release connectors.

7. Remove the transmission fluid cooler.

Installation

1. Install the transmission fluid cooler.
2. Connect the transmission fluid cooler pipes.
3. Connect the transmission fluid cooler coolant hoses.

Secure with the clips.

4. Install the cooling fan.
5. Connect the battery ground cable.
6. Refill and bleed the cooling system.
7. Check and top-up the transmission fluid level.
