CAUTION: Pull on the halfshaft inboard joint to make sure the clip has fully engaged and retains the halfshaft inboard joint within the
axle case.

2. With assistance, secure the halfshaft.

Clean the component mating faces.

Install a new snap ring.

^

Open the axle shaft seal protector.

NOTE:

LH illustration shown, RH is similar.

NOTE: 

The axle shaft seal protector is designed to break into two pieces.

3. Remove and discard the axle shaft seal protector.

CAUTION: Nuts and bolts must be tightened with the weight of the vehicle on the suspension.

4. Secure the lower arm.

Install a new nut and bolt and tighten to 250 Nm (184 ft. lbs.).

NOTE:

Use an additional wrench to prevent the component from rotating.

5. Secure the tie rod.

Install a new nut and tighten to 165 Nm (121 ft. lbs.).

6. Install the wheel and tire.

Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm (103 ft. lbs.).

Removal

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
