5. Remove the three Torx screws securing the steering column lower trim to the steering column. (Figure 1)
6. Release and remove the steering column lower trim.

7. Apply grease (QYL500010) to lubricate the tilt spindle threads, ensuring even distribution along entire spindle length. (Figure 2)
8. Operate the tilt mechanism through the entire range of travel several times.
9. Re-assess the tilt mechanism noise.

10. If the tilt mechanism noise has reduced to an acceptable level, proceed as follows to complete repair:

Install the steering column lower trim.

Install the steering column extension bellows.

^

Return the vehicle to customer.

11. If the tilt mechanism is still unacceptable, complete the INSTALL NEW TILT MOTOR section of this bulletin.

INSTALL NEW TILT MOTOR

CAUTION:  After switching off the ignition, two minutes must elapse before disconnecting the battery. Failure to wait two minutes will damage
the navigation computer.

1. Turn of the ignition and wait two minutes.

NOTE:  Global Technical Reference (GTR) lookup sequence is as follows:

Precautions" or "Standard Workshop Practices"

2. Refer to GTR General Information, Electrical Precautions or Standard Workshop Practices and disconnect the battery ground cable.

3. Disconnect the multi-plug connector from the steering column tilt adjustment motor. (Arrowed in Figure 3)
