Bulkhead Harness Breakouts - Interior Water Leaks
NO. 76/19/94/US
DATE: 07/01/94
MODEL
Range Rover
AFFECTED VEHICLES
All derivatives
SUBJECT
Water Ingress-Front Footwell
DETAIL
It has been noted that water can enter the inside of the vehicle via the electrical harnesses that pass through the bulkhead. The water entry points are via
the engine harness break-outs from the main harness where the tape wrap is incomplete around the breakout points. The water will enter these break-outs
and track down the inside of the harness insulation tubing and exit at the first point on the inside of the vehicle. Water can also enter via the harness
grommet located in the bulkhead.
NOTE
This issue was prominent from LH 647645, but may also occur on previous model year derivatives and therefore the following fix details apply.
ACTION REQUIRED
Upon customer complaint of water ingress into either left or right hand footwell inspect harness breakout points that are in the proximity of the bulkhead
and bulkhead grommets around harness entry points for sealing integrity.
PARTS INFORMATION
Sikaflex 255FC
Refer to Service Bulletin G92-004 for supplier information.
PROCEDURE
1.
Check tape wraps around harness break-out points located in the engine compartment that are located in close proximity to the bulkhead, and
where necessary ensure a water tight seal.
2.
Inspect the bulkhead harness grommets for sealing integrity and reseal as necessary using Sikaflex 255FC.
