Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
Exhaust Manifold Replace
1. Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect front exhaust pipe from manifold.
3. On left manifold, remove or disconnect the following:
a. Air intake hose from plenum chamber.
b. Harness from intake hose clip.
c. Air flow meter from air cleaner and harness connector.
d. Purge hose from RAM pipe housing.
e. Purging valve from shock tower.
4. On right manifold, remove or disconnect the following:
a. Spark plug leads and position aside. Mark leads for installation reference
b. Spark plug lead clip from rocker cover.
c. Loosen, but do not remove, righthand shock absorber top mounting bolt to provide additional clearance for heat shield removal
5. On right or left manifold, remove heat shield.
6. Remove exhaust manifolds and gaskets.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure mating surfaces are clean.
b. Coat threads of bolts with anti-seize compound.
c. Install new gaskets.
d. Install new locking tabs.
e. Tighten to specification.
