Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Description and Operation
The check engine warning light is grounded by the Engine Control Module (ECM) (Z132) when a fault code is set. The Warning Lamps Check Unit
(Z161) applies ground to the warning light momentarily as a bulb check when the Ignition Switch (X134) is moved to position II.
