VEHICLE SAFETY RECALL ACTION - D816 (USA), C816 (CANADA)

A possible defect which relates to vehicle operator safety exists in some 1993 model year Range Rover vehicles imported by Land Rover North America,
Inc.

DESCRIPTION OF DEFECT

Investigators at the Land Rover Factory have identified a supplier problem with power window and sunroof switches within the VIN range of ...
PA625589 to ... PA627470. It is possible that a small number of these switches may latch in the downward or upward positions and not automatically
return to their normal "off" position. This "latching" could possibly cause personal injury to an occupant if the switch stuck while moving the window or
sunroof panel to the closed position. A latched switch can, however, be moved to the middle position by hand.

VEHICLES INVOLVED/CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION

A total of 463 U.S. and Canadian vehicles are involved in this recall action. A list of vehicles retailed by your dealership is enclosed. Customer
notification will begin at the end of the week of June 14, 1993. A sample of the customer notification letter is attached to this bulletin.

Any unsold vehicles on this list and in dealer stock must be modified prior to sale.

STATUS CHECKING/VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION

You may check the disposition of any vehicle using the Land Rover terminal - Warranty Recall/Search screen.

In order to prevent campaign duplication, complete and install a Service Campaign label/clear acrylic cover on the vertical portion of the radiator support
panel near the vehicle emissions label.

Each campaign parts kit, Part No. FTC8559, includes one label and protective acrylic cover. A completed example of this label is shown.

WORK PROCEDURE

Replace six (6) power window switches and one (1) sunroof switch as follows:

Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

Remove the cubby box liner.

Carefully press out and disconnect each console power window switch and replace it with a similar switch from the parts kit (see Parts
Information). Please note position of the switch arrows before removal. Do not replace the rear window lockout switch.

Drop down the sunroof switch panel and replace the sunroof switch.

Using a flat bladed screwdriver, carefully pry each rear door switch from its escutcheon. Disconnect and replace with a new switch from the parts
kit. Do not allow the wiring to fall into the door. IMPORTANT: Do not pry on the door switch escutcheon itself, remove the switch from the
