When driving a vehicle with the front passenger seat unoccupied, a squeak/creak may be heard coming from this seat. The noise is caused by the two
leather surfaces of the seat base and the seat back rubbing together. The noise can be diagnosed by placing and removing a piece of card between the two
contacting surfaces.

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint of a squeak/creak coming from the front passenger seat, follow the procedure below.

PARTS INFORMATION

STC3118K - Anti-squeak tape

PROCEDURE 

1.

Confirm the squeak/creak is coming from the seat back and seat base contacting surface by driving the vehicle with and without a piece of
cardboard placed between these surfaces.

2.

Recline the seat back until it is flat.

3.

Wipe the bottom face of the seat back to remove any dust/dirt.

4.

Attach the strip of anti-squeak tape across the width of the bottom face of the seat back (see illustration). Ensure that it is firmly adhered to the
seat.
