If one of the valve cover gaskets is leaking, both should be replaced.

If there is any evidence of engine oil leaking from any of the areas listed above the following procedures must be carried out in the correct sequence
using recommended procedures to ensure the leak is repaired completely and correctly.

Valve Cover Gasket

Valve Cover Gasket and Valve Cover Bolt Repair

1.

Disconnect battery negative terminal.

2.

Disconnect crankcase breather hose from cover.

WARNING:

Fuel pressure of up to 2.5 bar will be present in the system, even if the engine has not been run for some time. The spilling of fuel is unavoidable
during this operation. Ensure that all necessary precautions are taken to prevent fire and explosion.

3.

Depressurize the fuel system as follows:

Position absorbent cloth around the fuel feed connection.

Carefully loosen fuel feed connection until fuel pressure has been relieved.

Remove fuel feed pipe from fuel rail.

^

Remove fuel pressure regulator return hose from clip.

4.

Remove heater hose from clip.

Remove Plenum Chamber

1.

Loosen clamp on intake hose to plenum chamber. Release hose.

2.

Remove throttle and cruise control cables from throttle linkage.

3.

Remove throttle and cruise control cables from bracket.

4.

Remove harness clip from throttle linkage bracket.

5.

Disconnect breather hose from plenum chamber.

6.

Disconnect multi-plugs from stepper motor and throttle potentiometer.

7.

Remove six bolts securing plenum chamber. Remove plenum chamber from ram pipe housing.

8.

Clamp coolant hoses with an approved hose clamp.

9.

Disconnect coolant hoses from water jacket. Remove plenum chamber.
