Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove air cleaner assembly.
2.
Disconnect muffler inlet pipe from turbocharger outlet. Plug outlet to prevent dirt entry.
3.
Disconnect EGR valve vacuum line.
4.
Disconnect inlet duct from turbocharger. Plug inlet to prevent dirt entry.
5.
Loosen turbocharger crossover pipe boot clamp, then remove oil feed tube to exhaust manifold retaining clamp.
6.
Remove oil feed line to turbocharger attaching bolts. Plug oil feed line and oil inlet port on turbocharger to prevent contamination of turbocharger
oiling system.
7.
Disconnect oil return line from turbocharger oil drain port. Plug line and port to prevent contamination of turbocharger oiling system.
8.
Remove exhaust manifold to cylinder head attaching bolts, then the exhaust manifold and turbocharger assembly. Plug crossover pipe to prevent
dirt entry.
9.
Reverse procedure to install. Torque manifold attaching bolts and oil feed line to 14---17 ft. lbs., oil return line to 29---36 ft. lbs. and muffler inlet
pipe to turbocharger outlet bolts to 31---35 ft. lbs.
