ISSUE:
Some vehicles may exhibit a rough idle/engine miss and/or Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminated with any of the Diagnostic Trouble Codes
(DTCs) P0300 through P03O8 and/or P0351 through P0358 stored in memory. This may be caused by water ingestion around the wiring harness
grommet and cam cover between the coil-on plug seal.
ACTION:
Apply RTV sealer to the "T" joint formed by the spark plug cover, wire harness grommet and cam cover. This should reduce the possibility of water
ingestion and engine misfire. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the two (2) spark plug cover bolts and remove cover.
2.
Inspect the area around the tour (4) ignition coils for the presence of water. If water is evident, remove the water.
3.
If water was not present, go to Step 5. If water was present, remove the tour (4) ignition coils and blow out any water in the cam cover spark plug
wells with air.
4.
Reinstall the four (4) ignition coils in the spark plug wells.
5.
Inspect the spark plug cover gasket and clean.
6.
Place wire harness grommet in cam cover groove.
