Piston: Testing and Inspection
Piston Pin Fit
1. Check the outside diameter (OD) of the piston pin and record. If not 21.995-21.992 mm (0.865944-0.865827 inch) replace pin.
2. Check the inside diameter (ID) of the pin bore in the piston and record. If not 22.002-22.006 mm (0.86620-0.866378 inch) replace piston.
3. Check the inside diameter (ID) of the pin bore in the connecting rod and record. If not 21.959-21.979 mm (0.864528-0.865315 inch) replace
connecting rod.
4. Replace any piston pin or connecting rod that is not within specification.
5. Subtract the piston's piston pin bore from the piston pin diameter. The difference is the clearance.
Clearance: 0.015-0.040 mm (0.000591-0.001574 inch).
6. Subtract the piston pin diameter from the connecting rod's piston pin bore. The difference is the interferance (press) fit.
Interferance: 0.015-0.040 mm (0.000591-0.0015748 inch).
7. Replace any component that is not within specification.
