On engines with EGR (USA) remove pipe line between EGR valve and exhaust manifold (arrow). Unscrew shielding plate (10) for this purpose.

Unscrew closing plug of chain tensioner and remove compression spring. See: Timing Components/Timing Chain Tensioner/Service and Repair

Set crankshaft to ignition TDC.

Rotate crankshaft with tool combination for this purpose.

Mark camshaft sprocket and timing chain in relation to each other.
