If there are complaints of this nature on earlier production vehicles, the restricting bore of the large intermediate plate can be bored out larger, depending
on the type of engine (Fig. 1 and 2, arrows).

Work Procedure

1.

Remove valve body from the transmission (see repair instruction, automatic transmission 722.111-120, Job No. 400).

Disassemble valve body (Job No. 420).

3.

Enlarge the restricting bore (arrow) in the large intermediate plate to a diameter of 3 mm/0.1181 in.

NOTE:

Be sure to determine if the intermediate plate pertains to a vehicle with Engine 616.912 or 617.912, due to differing diameter bores and
location (Fig. 1 and 2, arrows).

Deburr the enlarged restricting bore.

5.

Loosen the fastening screws of the end plate (49) and remove all screws except one (see Fig. 3).
