Lock Cylinder Cover Plate Loose or Missing
If the lock cylinder cap (arrow) is loose or missing, the entire lock cylinder mechanism must be replaced (Figure 1).
Note:
The lock cylinder mechanism number must be included when ordering parts.
As of February 1987 (production phase-in) the lock cylinder caps of the front doors and the trunk lid are swaged (previously peened over)
B.
Modifications to Door Handle Assembly
As of February 1987 (production phase-in) a modified base plate is installed under the front portion of the door handle to ensure smooth movement of
the door handle in the bearing bracket.
In case of customer complaints regarding sticking door handles, perform the procedure described on the following page.

Procedure
1.
Remove plug and loosen set-screw approx. 1/4 turn with 3 mm Allen wrench, (Figure 2). Check door handle for smooth, unrestricted movement. If
movement is not smooth perform steps 2-6.
2.
Remove outside door handle of affected door(s) (see respective Service Microfiche, Body Assembly Jobs I, job nos. 72-240 and/or 241).
Note:
Do not remove metal bearing bracket (from inside the door).
