Fuel Gauge Sender: Service and Repair
Removing and installing fuel gauge sender
Model 124 Sedan
Disconnect battery ground cable
Remove fuel tank trim.
Unplug coupling at fuel gauge sender (84). Secure against slipping off.
Unscrew sealing flange (65).
Note:
If fuel tank full, pump out approx. 8 liters beforehand.
In the case of sheet steel fuel tank, replace both seals at sealing flange (65).
Remove fuel gauge sender (84), run empty if necessary, install.
Remove securing pin below adhesive strip (only new part).
Tightening torque 40 Nm.
Model 124 Station Wagon
Disconnect battery ground cable.
Remove front load area flap or 3rd bench seat back rest.
Partially remove load area trim.
Unclip cover.
Unplug coupling at fuel gauge sender (84).
Remove fuel gauge sender (84), run empty if necessary.
Replace seal.
Remove securing pin below adhesive strip (only new part).
Tightening torque 40 Nm.
