MODIFIED ANTI-THEFT ALARM CONNECTION AT RADIO
B.
MODIFIED ANTI-THEFT ALARM CONTROL UNIT AS OF MODEL YEAR 1986
This Service Information updates information published in the Model Year 1987 Introduction Manual, Models 107, 124, 126 and 201.
Beginning with model year 1986, vehicles equipped with the anti-theft alarm provide anti-theft protection for the Becker Grand Prix radio as well. If the
radio is removed while the anti-theft alarm is armed the radio will be rendered inoperative and can only be repaired by the radio manufacturer.
Several different versions of the connection of alarm harness to radio chassis have been used. A description of the various versions of alarm harness to
radio chassis connections is listed below.
Model 107 vehicles produced prior to August 1986 and existing stock supplies of unmodified radios must be modified to version 3. In all other models,
the modification should only be performed when replacing a defective radio chassis. The procedure for this modification is in section "A" of this Service
Information. After performing the modification, a remark stating "Positive-lock connection installed on radio anti-theft alarm harness:
(date)" should be entered in the inside cover of the vehicle's maintenance booklet.
