Driving (120 to 200 miies)
Cause:
1.
Orifice (arrow) in fuel filter upper housing is plugged by rubber particles, fuel main filter is plugged or center seal of filter is frayed.
2.
Centrifugal governor in fuel injection pump is binding.
Remedy:
1.
Clean orifice in fuel filter upper housing. Replace fuel main filter.
2.
Replace fuel injection pump (requires Zone approval).
Note:
Fuel injection pumps as of production code 849 (September 1988) and fuel injection pumps with production code 848 (August 1988) and a green
paint dot (arrow) are Ok.
The production code is stamped into the identification plate of the fuel injection pump.
If the complaint reoccurs with a new fuel injection pump, contact your FSM.
