Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Rear

Removal

-

Turn ignition OFF.

-

Remove Self-locking hexagon socket screw at rear axle wheal speed sensor (L6).

-

Remove rear axle wheel speed sensor (L6)  vertically out of rear axle casing. 

-

Check axle rotor for any damage, contamination and firm seating on the driveshaft

Check number of teeth, refer to Specifications.

-

Loosen Cable tie (arrow).

-

Open bayonet lock and detach plug connection of rear axle distributor

-

Slacken cover (123) of plug connection distributor (122) by one notch.

-

Detach Plug (L6) from plug connection distributor (122).

Note pin assignment for later assembly.

Installation

-

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

When assembling, ensure that the plug assignment (position) is not interchanged (note letter marking).
When installing speed sensor. ensure that no metallic foreign bodies are located on the magnetic edge of the wheel speed sensor and that the
O-ring is not damaged

Replace O-ring if required.

The flange of the wheel speed sensor must abut the rear axle casing.
Replace she self-locking hexagon socket screw.

Tighten to: 8 Nm

Read out, then erase fault memory, refer to Testing and Inspection
