Refrigerant Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation
Receiver Drier
PURPOSE
The high temperature switch (14), which is located on the receiver drier, activates the auxiliary cooling fan during periods of high system
temperatures to improve cooling efficiency and prevent overheating.
OPERATION
The high temperature switch activates the auxiliary cooling fan relay when the a/c system temperature reaches 144°F (62°C). The additional
cooling air flowing across the condenser and radiator should reduce system temperature. When temperature reduces, the high temperature switch
opens the ground circuit of relay disengaging auxiliary fan.
