RESPONSE DELAY OF ELECTRONIC CRUISE CONTROL UNIT

NOTE:

Functioning of the Cruise Control Unit

The injection quantity of the injection pump is indirectly set by the cruise control actuator lever via the control rod and other linkages, causing a
small response delay when setting the cruise control to "ACCEL. SET, DECEL. SET and RESUME".

A delay of approximately 3 seconds between the setting of the cruise control switch and a noticeable acceleration is within factory tolerance limits.

Warranty claims for the exchange of the control unit or the actuator cannot be honored if the system functions within the above tolerance time
limit.

Setting the Cruise Control Unit

2.1

Accelerate vehicle to desired speed.

2.2

Set speed via "ACCEL. SET" switch.

2.3

Hold accelerator pedal position until the cruise control unit holds desired speed.

NOTE: 

Holding accelerator position will prevent momentary slowing down of engine speed.

Please pass the information in Section 2 on to your customers.

Complaints About the Cruise Control Unit

In case of customer complaints (such as unit cannot be engaged after driving for a while, or unit works intermittently because.of an electronic
malfunction), check out cruise control system with usual test methods. If tests show no apparent cause for the malfunction, replace throttle actuator
with one that has a production date of November 1981 or later.
