Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair
NOTE: As of August 1985 the number of spring washers has been increased from 3 to 4.
When performing repairs, it is prohibited to increase the number of spring washers to 4 by adding a spring washer, 4 new spring washers must always be
fitted.
The old version (3 spring washers) may be retained on engines up to 1985.
If, when performing repairs, 4 spring washers (2nd version) are used in place of 3 spring washers (1st version), the tightening torque should be increased
to 370 - 400 Nm.

NOTE: Moisten the radial with engine oil between sealing and dust lips before installing.
NOTE: The belt pulley on the crankshaft is made either of grey cast iron or of pressed steel sheet.
The cast iron belt pulley is sensitive to fracturing.
