SUBJECT:
CONVERSION FROM SINGLE TO DOUBLE ROLLER TIMING CHAIN MODELS 107 AND 126 WITH ENGINE 116.96 MODEL YEAR 1981 - 1983
As of model year 1984, double roller timing chains have been installed in the above engines in production.
Whenever an engine is disassembled, such as for engine overhaul, or installation of a fitted or short block, the engine should always be assembled with a
new double roller timing chain and sprockets.
The procedure for installing the double roller chain and sprockets as well as setting the valve timing, is basically the same as described in the applicable
microfiche; except that all chain sprockets must be exchanged with the double roller version.
The procedure for replacing the single roller chain with a double roller chain and sprockets as well as setting the valve timing, without engine removal, is
described in the attached Work Instructions #164.
