Rear Differential - Oil Leak At Breather

REAR AXLE BREATHER MODELS 380 SL/SEL/SEC

In models 380SL/SEL/SEC (107.045, 126.03/04) rear axles are now installed with the breather valve located to the right side of the differential housing
(from Sept. 1981 to Nov. 1982 the breather valve was located on the left side).

Repair Note

If oil is leaking from the breather located on the left side of the differential, the leakage can be eliminated by installing a modified breather, which is
fitted with a ball relief valve. The modified breather must not be installed on differentials with a breather located on the right side.
