Sunroof / Moonroof Cable: Service and Repair
Sliding Roof

Removal:
1 Remove sliding roof cover. See: Sunroof / Moonroof Panel/Service and Repair

2 Actuate sliding roof switch in direction of "closing", permit control cable to move completely forward and pull out.

NOTE:  If the control cable cannot be moved with the electric drive, use emergency crank.

3 If the control cable can also not be operated in this manner, insert a mandrel into bore for connecting clamp and remove control cable by a

simultaneous turning and pulling operation.

4 If too much force is required, do not continue turning, since this might unwind the control cable and unwind the tubing. In such a case, dissemble gears

of electric drive See: Sunroof / Moonroof Motor/Service and Repair

5 If, upon disassembly of gears, the control cable can still not be removed, a distortion in tubing is responsible and the control cable tube must be

Installation:
6 Thoroughly coat coil at end of new control cable with MB slide paste, part no. 001 989 14 51 and carefully introduce into tubing.
7 The control cable should permit sliding in tubing with a force of max. 50 N. Check by means of a spring scale.
8 Insert control cable completely into tubing and permit to run into gears of electric drive by actuating sliding roof switch in direction of "open".
9 For further installation proceed vice versa.
