Engine Oil Cooler Thermostat: Service and Repair
Removing and Installing Oil Thermostat In Oil Filter:
NOTE: The thermostat in the oil filter is only installed in vehicles with air oil cooler.
An operational thermostat may only be removed at temperatures below 60 °C since otherwise the thrust pin (a) will be forced out.
The thrust pin (a) should never be pulled out of the wax element of the thermostat (arrow) since other-wise proper operation is no longer assured.
