Oxygen Sensor Replacement Indicator: Description and Operation

Legislation prescribes that the oxygen sensor must be replaced once after 30,000 miles or, in the case of Canada vehicles, after 50,000 km. This is
indicated by an "O2 sensor" warning lamp in the instrument cluster lighting up.

The odometer of the speedometer produces a voltage signal via a magnetic field when 30,000 miles (or 50,000 km - Canada) is reached.. The
downstream electronics detects this voltage and switches on the warning lamp.

After the oxygen sensor is replaced, the warning device should be deactivated by removing the bulb. This will require partial removal of the instrument
cluster.
