Canister Purge Control Valve: Description and Operation
GF07.61-P-3013KE Purge Control Valve Actuation, Function
- up to model year 08
Component Identification
To control purge quantity, the purge control valve is actuated at the ground end by the ME-SFI control unit by means of PWM signals (pulse
width-modulated signal).
The purge quantity is determined by constantly opening and closing the purge control valve for on and off periods of various lengths. The frequency of
the PWM signal is 10 Hz.
Actuation is performed when engine is at operating temperature. But not in the overrun mode or in the lambda adaptation phase.
The following input signals are processed in the ME-SFI control unit for this purpose:
^
Engine speed
^
Coolant temperature
^
Air mass
^
Intake air temperature
^
O2 sensor signal upstream of TWC
