SUBJECT:
MODEL 203.040/740, MODEL YEARS 2003 - 2005

REPLACE ENGINE VENT HOSES

This Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG has determined that the engine vent hose on subject vehicles may not conform to
specifications. Cracks may develop in the vent hose over time and in the worst case result in a rough running engine. Dealers will replace the engine vent
hose on the affected vehicles during the next workshop visit.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.

Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the procedure steps exactly as described.

Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

Approximately 78,497 vehicles are affected. 

Procedure

1.

Remove supercharger/compressor (AR09.50-P-4705QK).

Note (regarding referenced WIS document):

Special tool 001 589 81 09 00 (flexible head wrench set) is not available from the Mercedes-Benz Special Tools program. Flexhead E10
torx socket, which is commercially available from your local tool vendor (e.g., Snap-On etc), can be used.

Replace bottom partial load vent hoses (A, Figure 1) along with check valve (B):
