Oil Pan: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation

NOTE:  For additional information on the C36 model not specifically listed below refer to AMG.

C36 Information

The oil deflector shield was lowered 2 mm to ensure adequate clearance between the piston rod and shield

-

Spacer caps (arrow) were installed on the crankshaft main bearing cap bolts to increase the clearance.

1. Remove bottom engine compartment panel.
2. Drain engine oil.
3. Take off fan shroud ring (6) at fan shroud.
4. Take off cover (5) of engine harness at component partition.
5. Take off exhaust at exhaust manifold.
6. Take off carrier for exhaust bracket at transmission.
7. Unplug coupling of oil level sensor (S43).
8. Unbolt oil pipes (14) and (15) at oil pan (4).
9. Take off drag link (7)

10. Remove front torsion bar (17)
11. Unscrew front engine mount bolts (11) at bottom.
12. Unscrew rear engine mount bolts (12) at engine carrier (13).
13. Remove cover (16) at front.
14. Attach engine hoist to front and rear engine lifting lugs.

NOTE:  adjust so that engine is raised evenly at front and rear.

15. Raise engine.
16. Unscrew oil pan bolts.
17. Remove oil pan (4).
18. Clean sealing surface.
