Creaking Noises from Area of Front Axle When Suspension Compresses/Expands
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of a creaking noise from the front axle area when the suspension is compressed or expanded,
perform the following.
Note:
This noise may be caused by the wearing out of the rubber mounts located on the front axle torsion bar. The noise may occur more at higher
temperatures.
1.
Remove the lower engine paneling. Refer to WIS document AR61.20-P-1105P.
2.
Remove the torsion bar on the front axle. Refer to WIS document AR32.20-P-0300P. If the vehicle has xenon headlamps, detach the linkage from
the level sensor.
3.
Thoroughly clean the torsion bar.
4.
Preinstall both rubber mounts with seal boots and slide them onto the torsion bar (Figure 1). Take note of the installation position.
