Function requirements

Status "circuit 30 ON" or "circuit 15R ON"

^

Mobile phone system operating error-free

^

One mobile telephone network must be available in sufficient strength and quality

^

Compatible mobile phone inserted into the mobile phone cradle (A34/15) (comfort telephony) or Bluetooth mobile phone in the vehicle and
registered with the "master control unit" (basic telephony)

^

Enabled Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card inserted in mobile phone

^

Correct Personal Identification Number (PIN) entered

The term "master control unit" is used below for the particular component installed of those listed below:

COMAND controller unit, (A40/3), with code (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)

COMAND controller unit, with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer

General

A distinction is made between the following 2 versions for the mobile phone system:

^

Basic telephony

^

Comfort telephony

Both systems use Bluetooth technology for data transfer. The mobile phone system comprises the following component functions:

^

Telephone switch-on/switch-off characteristics, function

^

Establishing/ending a phone call, function

^

Phone call acceptance, function

^

Voice control, function

^

Short Message Service (SMS), function

phone system".

Operating instructions

A telephone call can be built up and terminated through:

Buttons on the mobile phone

^

Telephone buttons on the "master control unit"

^

Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9)

^

Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)

^

Voice control system (VCS [SBS])

Supplemental information on address book

The user can manage his contact data in the address book function (view, edit, complete, delete and add new). The address book contains the address
entries saved in the "master control unit". In addition, in vehicles with comfort telephony, data can be loaded from the mobile phone's phone book into
the address book of the "master control unit".
The data from the mobile phone's phone book are then permanently available, even if the mobile phone is no longer inserted in the cradle.

Address entries can only be removed by deleting individual entries or by deleting the entire address book. The Bluetooth interface of the mobile phone
and the Bluetooth antenna (A2/91) can be used to transmit data from other external devices (e.g. PDA, laptop, etc.) into the address book. These data are
then permanently available as address entries. The address-relevant applications for telephony can be started directly via the address book entries and
provided with the data stored

In vehicles with basic telephony, data cannot be loaded from the mobile phone's phone book. It is only possible to enter or select a phone number in the
following ways:

Telephone number previously selected from the call lists
