Headlamp switch-off delay function sequence, general
The headlamp switch-off delay serves to illuminate the area surrounding the vehicle when it is exited or when locating the vehicle. It comprises the
following subfunctions:

Automatic headlamp on
^
Locator lighting
The individual exterior lights are actuated as follows:
The front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) actuates the following components:
^
Left front standing light and parking light (E1e3) and right front standing light and parking light (E2e3)
^
Left front standing light 2 (E1e12) and right front standing light 2 (E2e12)
^
Front left side-marker lamp (E6/1) and front right side-marker lamp (E6/2) ( United States Of America and Canada only)
^
Left front fog lamp (E5/1) and right front fog lamp (E5/2)
The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) actuates the following components:
^
Left brake light and taillight and parking light (E3e9) and right brake light and taillight and parking light (E4e9) (pulsed at 5 W)
^
Inside left brake light and taillight (E3e10) and inside right brake light and taillight (E4e10) (pulsed to 5 W)
^
Left license plate lamp (E19/1) and right license plate lamp (E19/2)
^
Left rear side-marker lamp (E6/3) and right rear side-marker lamp (E6/4)
In vehicles with code (550) Trailer hitch, the trailer standing/ parking lights are actuated by the trailer recognition control unit N28/1) via the
trailer socket (X58).
Automatic headlamp on
Function requirements

Function activated via the instrument cluster (A1)

Engine switched off
^
Light sensor (B38/1) (without code (345) Rain sensor) or rain/ light sensor (B38/2) (with code (345) Rain sensor) signaling "darkness"
^
Exterior lights switch (S1) in "Auto" position (in United States Of America and Canada vehicles)
Headlamp switch-off delay function sequence
After the engine has been switched off, the vehicle ambient light function is activated for a period of t = 60 s.
The function sequence starts again if a door is opened, the trunk lid is opened (with model 204.0) or the liftgate is opened (with model 204.2).
