Idler Arm: Adjustments
NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.
-
The steering idler arm is adjusted to a defined position "a" = 19.1 mm along the bearing bush (26k).
NOTE:
-
The slight offset of the steering idler arm must point towards the collar of the bearing bush.
-
The adjusted position may vary by a maximum of 5 mm when the ball point position is corrected.
-
If the specified ball point position is not achieved within this adjustment range, the bearing tube/body is distorted.
-
Self-locking nut of steering idler arm on bearing bracket of frame longitudinal member
-
Clamping screw of steering idler arm on bearing bush
-
If the ball point position cannot be adjusted at the steering idler arm, a correction to the ball point position can be made at the pitman arm by
offsetting (a) on the splined section of the pitman arm shaft.
