Check Condition of Battery

NOTE:  Pay attention to warning notes and safety precautions. See: Service Precautions/Technician Safety Information

Test Data

Visual inspection

for external leaks.  

Cell covers

unscrew, screw in.  

Electrolyte density

measure, min. 1.24 kg/dm cu.  

If the electrolyte density in one or several cells differs from the others by > 0.04 kg/dm cu, renew battery.

Electrolyte density < 1.24 kg/dm cu, perform charging battery, See: Service and Repair/Charge Battery

Electrolyte level

check, top up distilled water if necessary.
If no fault found, perform load test, See: Check Condition of Battery

Acidimeter
