Wiring Harness: Service and Repair

- EC fan wiring harness
Removing
1
Disconnect ground cable of battery

Remove left headlamp unit

Unplug electrical connector from suction fan
4
Expose fan wiring harness branch-off line

Cut open insulation (fabric tape) for a length of approx. 450 mm

Cut wire (red, 12 sq. mm) in area (A)
NOTE: Use cable shears to cut the wires.

Cut wire (black/violet, 0.5 sq. mm) and wire (yellow/blue, 0.5 sq. mm) in area (A)
NOTE: Always cut the individual wires at the parting point to different lengths.

Cut ground lead (brown, 12 sq. mm) in area (A) and insulate
Installing

Attach cable lug to wire (red, 12 sq. mm) with shrink sleeve

Connect wire (black/violet, 0.5 sq. mm) and wire (yellow/blue, 0.5 sq. mm) with repair wiring harness
NOTE: Use green cable connectors.

Fasten terminal point (1) to A/C pipe with two cable straps

Screw wire (red, 12 sq. mm) and wire from repair wiring harness (red, 12 sq. mm) onto terminal point (1)

Screw ground lead (brown, 12 sq. mm) from repair wiring harness to ground point (W3/7, bottom left in wheelhousing)

Insulate all newly installed wires and cable connectors with fabric tape

Route fan repair wiring harness and connect to fan

Install left headlamp unit

Reconnect ground lead to battery

Read and erase fault memory

Stored faults which can result from cables being disconnected or from simulation during removal and installation or test work, have to be
processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.

Check function of fan
