Remove/Install Coolant Thermostat

Remove/Install

DANGER:

-

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray, Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 degrees C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour
coolant into beverage bottles.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.

Drain coolant at radiator

CAUTION:  See notes on coolant.

Remove upper engine cover (2)

NOTE:  Detach engine cover on both air cleaner boxes and at bracket toward top.

Detach coolant hose (3)

CAUTION:  Inspect condition of coolant hose and hose clamp. Install new parts if necessary in order to avoid a loss of coolant.

Remove poly-V-belt of compressor (8)

Remove poly-V-belt (9)

Unscrew bolts of coolant thermostat housing (5)

Take off coolant thermostat housing (1) together with coolant thermostat

CAUTION:  Installation:  Replace sealing ring, in order to avoid loss of coolant.

Inspecting

Test coolant thermostat

Install in the reverse order

Inspect cooling system for leaks
