Check Engine Light On, Fault Code 2005 (B11/4 - Coolant Temp. Sensor) / Radiator

Fan Runs Constantly

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles that the check engine light is illuminated and the radiator fan runs constantly with fault
code 2005, this may be due to an implausible engine off time between the instrument cluster and the ME-SFI control unit. The fault may occur
when the engine is at operating temperature and is then switched off and restarted immediately (less than 2 seconds).

Note:

The driving cycles described occur after the engine has not run for more than 4 hours.

Follow the procedure below to resolve.

1.

Check temperature sensor as per DAS.

2.

If temperature sensor is OK, do not replace the control unit.

3.

Erase fault memory

Note:

Currently it is only possible to erase the fault memory after checking the temperature sensor. Replacing parts does not change the operational
characteristic.

4.

Advise the customer to wait longer than two seconds prior to restarting the vehicle.

With DAS 06/07, it will be possible to program the engine control unit with software (VC 7.3) to correct this issue.
