Remove/Install Operating/Display Unit With Control Module

Connect quiescent current retention unit

See "Commercially Available Tools" given below.

DANGER:

-

Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury from
caustic burns to eyes and skin from battery electrolyte or from handling damaged lead add batteries.
-

No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.

-

Wear acid-protective gloves, clothing and eye protection. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked
containers.

Insert removal tool (1) into the recess clearance

NOTE:
-

With the flattened handle ring facing upwards (arrow).

-

Until they audibly snap into place.

Remove COMAND operating, display display and control module (A40/3)

Disconnect couplings

Disconnect fiber optic cable connector (D2B)

CAUTION:  Do not kink or stretch D2B fiber optic cable.

NOTE:  Install caps on fiber optic cable connector and equipment connection. Refer to Covering fiber optic cable

Unlatch removal tool (1)

NOTE:  Insert screwdriver into one of the release holes (arrow).

Install in the reverse order

Read diagnostic trouble code memory and erase
-

Stored faults which can result from cables being disconnected or from simulation during removal and installation or test work, have to be
processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.
