Function sequence
The trailer's connecting line is hooked up to the AHV socket, 13-pin (X58). The trailer left turn signal lamp and stop lamp circuits are briefly supplied
with current by the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1).
The trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) detects the electrically connected trailer on the basis of the closed circuit of the turn signal lamps or stop
lamps.
The trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) sends the "Trailer connected" CAN message to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module
(N10/2) via the class B (interior) Controller Area Network Bus (CAN-B).
The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) activates the actuation and monitoring of the trailer lighting system.
In vehicles with code (220) Parktronic system (PTS), the CAN-B message causes the PTS control unit (N62) to switch off the Parktronic sensors in the
rear bumper.
