GF91.60-P-4033TX Driver-side/Passenger-side Frontal Acceleration Sensor, Component Description
Component Identification
Location
The driver-side and passenger-side frontal acceleration sensor is located at the front module.
Task
The driver-side and passenger-side frontal acceleration sensor calculates the acceleration value of the vehicle front for the left or the right side of the
vehicle. These values are used by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) to decide, whether or not the airbags are triggered. If the driver-side or
passenger-side frontal acceleration sensor fails, the signal of the still working sensor continues being evaluated.
Function
^
After the self-test has been successful, this is confirmed by the driver-side and passenger-side frontal acceleration sensor by sending a signal to the
restraint systems control unit.
^
If the self-test has failed four times, the driver-side or passenger-side frontal acceleration sensor is considered defective.
^
Upon request by the restraint systems control unit, the measuring range and the sensitivity of the driver-side and passenger-side frontal
acceleration sensor are transmitted and it is checked, whether they match the programmed equipment. The production data can be output via
STAR DIAGNOSIS.
^
The acceleration values are transmitted periodically as digital values.
