2. Disconnect ground cable of battery, refer to Starting and Charging.
3. Remove viscous fan coupling, refer to Replacement. See: Radiator Cooling Fan/Fan Clutch/Service and Repair
4. Slacken bolts of belt pulley at coolant pump (5) as follows:

Fit on counter-holder at belt pulley of coolant pump (5)
Loosen bolts

5. Remove poly V-belt, refer to Engine. 

Inspect poly V-belt, belt pulleys and tensioning device for signs of dirt and damage and replace if necessary

6. Take off belt pulley of coolant pump (5)
7. Disconnect coolant hoses at coolant pump housing (12, 13)

Inspect condition of coolant hoses and hose clips and replace if necessary

8. Without disconnecting cables, Remove alternator and 

attach to side in vehicle

9. Remove coolant pump housing (16) together with coolant pump (17)

Pay attention to dowel sleeves (15).

10. Unbolt coolant pump (17) at coolant pump housing (16)

Pay attention to dowel sleeves (9).

INSTALLATION

-

Install in the reverse order, noting the following:

Pay attention to coolant pump housing dowel sleeves (15)
clean sealing surfaces,  replace coolant pump housing gasket (14)
.Pay attention to coolant pump dowel sleeves (9)
clean sealing surfaces,  replace coolant pump housing gasket (10)
Inspect cooling system for leaks
Read fault memory, erase, refer to Powertrain Management.

Stored faults which may be caused by disconnecting wiring or simulation during removal and installation or test work have to be processed
in the fault memories and erased after completing the work.

Tighten the following components to:

Pulley To Coolant Pump: 10 Nm
Coolant Pump To Housing: 10 Nm

Coolant Pump Housing Bolts: 10 Nm
