Camshaft Bearing: Service and Repair

Camshaft Housing Removal (Part 1 Of 2)

Camshaft Housing Removal (Part 2 Of 2)

NOTE:  Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

REMOVAL

1. Remove radiator, refer to Cooling System.
2. Remove upper guide rail pin. See: Timing Components/Timing Chain Guide/Service and Repair
3. Remove chain tensioner. See: Timing Components/Timing Chain Tensioner/Service and Repair
4. Remove camshafts, refer to Camshaft Replacement. See: Camshaft/Service and Repair/Procedures
5. Remove camshaft housing.

NOTE:
^

The bucket tappets do not need to be taken out in order to remove the camshaft housing.

^

A lug prevents the bucket tappet from dropping out.
