6. Lift conrod (2) up and out together with piston (4)

If the pistons are worn, the arrows indicating direction of travel may no longer be visible because of coking; remove coking in order to make
direction of travel arrow visible

7. Use a screwdriver to press out piston pin retainer (5)

Do not damage pistons; use a clean rag as a base

8. Press out piston pin (6)

INSTALLATION

1. Oil Piston Pin (6) and conrod bush
2. Assemble piston (4) and conrod (2)
3. Install piston with arrow in direction of travel

The marking and the retaining slots in the conrod are located on the left (on the inlet side)

4. Push in piston pin (6) by hand
5. Insert piston pin retainer (5) into the groove (arrow) at the piston
6. Oil cleaned cylinder bores, conrod bearing journals, conrod bearing shells and pistons

Do not mix up top and bottom conrod bearing shells

7. Fit on tensioning strap (7) for piston rings and tension
8. Install piston (4) with arrow facing in direction of travel
9. Bolt on conrod bearing cap (1)

Bolt conrod bearing cap (1) and conrod (2) with the markings (arrows) facing each other, then tighten in two stages as follows:

1st. stage, tighten to: 40 Nm
2nd. stage: turn 90°

10. Rotate crankshaft and check that it rotates freely
11. Install oil baffle plate
12. Install oil pump
13. Install oil pan
14. Measure piston projection. See: Testing and Inspection

Depending on piston projection, install cylinder head gasket of standard thickness or cylinder head gasket of repair thickness (1.85 mm thick).

15. Install cylinder head
