Refrigerant Compressor not Functioning Due to Overheated Magnetic Clutch
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of no cooling, the cause could be an overheated magnetic clutch for the AC
compressor. Signal interference from the engine control module to the climate control module can cause constant switching on and off of the
compressor clutch causing it to overheat and stop functioning. To correct this condition, the climate control unit and refrigerant compressor need
to be replaced. All inventory has been updated with parts with increased signal input damping (capacitor) to prevent this from re-occurring.
1.
Replace the climate control module. Refer to WIS AR83.40-P-6350C.
2.
Replace the refrigerant compressor. Refer to WIS AR83.55-P-5300F.
5.
Confirm correct operation of the AC system by following the instructions in the Vehicle Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) Manual,
Check 5, page 44. Manual can be found on STAR TekInfo -> EDAC -> Non EDAC Guides.
