Disconnect propeller shaft (1) at slide connection

NOTE:
-

Only if necessary.

-

Installation:  Coat splined shaft profile with Molykote grease.

Inspect

Check propeller shaft intermediate bearings, flexible couplings, vibration dampers and centering sleeves
-

Check for wear and if there is a complaint.
-

Remove/install propeller shaft intermediate bearing and replacing deep-groove ball bearing.

-

Replace centering sleeve.

-

Replace flexible coupling.

-

Replace vibration damper.

Install in the reverse order.

DANGER:

-

Lethal injuries are possible if vehicle slips off of lifting platform

-

Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points
specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Raise vehicle.

Remove right-hand sensor, downstream of TWC (G3/6)

Mark propeller shaft of front axle gear (70) relative to flange of front axle gear and to flange of transfer case

Detach propeller shaft of front axle gear (70) from flange of front axle gear

NOTE:  Installation: Observe marking

Detach propeller shaft of front axle gear (70) from flange of transfer case

NOTE:  Installation: Observe marking

Take out propeller shaft of front axle gear (70)

Check universal joints, replace propeller shaft of front axle gear (70) if necessary

Check rubber boot (71) and replace if necessary

Necessary after checking, Replace rubber boot on front axle gear propeller shaft
