Instrument Cluster Message "Electronic Stability Program ESP Defective - Visit Workshop" After Previous Replacement of the Engine Control Unit

If after the replacement of an engine control unit (ME-SG) the instrument cluster displays the message "Electronic Stability Program ESP Defective -
Visit Workshop" and the following fault codes listed below are stored, replace the ESP control unit (refer to WIS document GF42.45-P-4500-03E for
control module location). Refer to EPC for the latest ESP control module part numbers.

ESP: C1511-005 - The control module is incorrectly coded

ME: 2034 - No or incorrect CAN message from N47-5 (ESP control unit)

This issue is caused by the erroneous coding (engine variant M113E50, not valid for BR210 4MATIC) of the previously replaced engine (ME-SG) 
control unit. The incorrect coding was written to the EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) of the ESP control unit. Since
the written value in the ESP control unit cannot be overwritten, it permanently detects an invalid engine even if the ME control unit is recoded to the
correct engine variant.

Since this fault is the result of improper coding, warranty or goodwill reimbursement is not allowable.

Ensure that the engine control unit is properly coded for the correct engine variant before installing another ESP control unit.
