Insert new strut from the side until the aligning bores (Figure 2, 2) can be seen through the stamped holes. Ensure proper alignment of strut. The
side pin with the magnet must be on the right hand side when the cover is top side down. The magnet will be on the left side of the vehicle when
the luggage compartment cover is installed. The micro switch that detects when the cover is installed is located on the left side.

Install new handle. The aligning pins in the top and bottom parts of the handle must meet exactly in the aligning bores (Figure 2, 2) of the strut.
Squeeze the top and bottom pieces of the handle tightly together and hammer in the shafts of the expansion rivets (Figure 1, 1) using a plastic
mallet.

7.

Install luggage compartment cover.

All warranty claims for a complete luggage cover which could have been repaired by following the above instructions, as of September 28, 2004,
may be debited.
