Heated Glass Element: Description and Operation

The function rear window defroster is switched on when the rear window defroster switch on the pushbutton control module for automatic heater (N18),
Tempmatic pushbutton control module (N19) or automatic pushbutton control module (N22) is pressed. The switch signal sends a voltage code to the
multi-function control module (N10) or (N10-3). From the multi-function control module (N10) or (N10-3) the data "Rear window defroster ON" is
transferred via the CAN data bus to the pneumatic system equipment (PSE) control module (A37). The relay for the rear window defroster is located in
the PSE control module (A37).

After expiration of the 12 min. delay period the signal "Rear window defroster ON" is canceled by the multi-function control module (N10) or (N10-3)
and the rear window defroster is switched off.

The LED in the rear window defroster switch is controlled by the multi-function control module (N1O) or (N10-3). When the multi-function control
module (N10) or (N10-3) detects that the voltage is too low (< 11 V) it sends the signal "Rear window defroster OFF" to the PSE control module (A37)
switching off the rear window defroster. The LED in the switch then flashes.
