Belt Squeaking on Cold Start of Engine
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of a belt squeak noise when the engine is cold, the cause could be an incorrectly installed
power steering pump pulley. The noise diminishes as the engine temperature increases. Follow the instructions below to remedy this condition.
Inspect the installation of the power steering pump pulley. The part number of the pulley A112 234 00 12 should be legible when viewed from the front
of the engine. If it is not legible, the pulley needs to be removed and installed with the part number facing the front of the engine.
Note:
The pulley is offset and if installed incorrectly will cause the drive belt to be noisy from the edge of the belt contacting the raised guide on the pulley.
Inspect the pulley and the belt for damage and replace if necessary.
